Kay and Kathy have been in the quilt business for over 15 years. First, owning a quilt shop for 14 years and now continuing with their pattern company, Franklin Quilt Company. We sell patterns and our Shortcut Binding Tool retail through our website and wholesale. Their patterns and tool are found in shops all over the United States, Australia, and Europe.
They have both been teaching on the national level since 2004, teaching at several AQS shows including Paducah, Lancaster, Knoxville, and Nashville as well as the NQA show in Columbus, Ohio and Panama City Beach Quilt Shows. They have also judged various quilt shows on both the national and local levels. They travel to many guilds throughout the country lecturing and teaching workshops.

Lectures - $150
Workshops - 3 hours = $350 / Workshop - 6 hours = $600

THE MAKINGS OF A PATTERN COMPANY - This is a trunk show of quilts made from Franklin Quilt Company patterns. Many of the patterns have quilts in several colorways. Most patterns are beginner or intermediate friendly with multiple sizes and easy to read directions.
SCRAPOLOGY - the study of using your scraps to make beautiful quilts. Kay will talk about organization and how to clean up the clutter! There is a trunk show of Scrappy quilts.
GAINING CONFIDENCE IN MACHINE QUILTING. Kathy will help you overcome the anxiety about learning to machine quilt on your domestic machine.
These patterns use a special technique, where you do NOT cut those dark triangle units. The patterns show how to achieve this without any special tool. Once the blocks are made, there are different ways you can lay them out.
WALK AROUND THE PARK TABLERUNNER - NEW WORKSHOP!! (6 hours)
One of the newest FQC patterns.
This workshop emphasizes accuracy in your piecing.
Made of 4 patches, 9 patches, squares and rectangles.
The block size is 15” finished.
This is an intermediate beginner pattern with lots of piecing!
The workshop is a table runner, but there’s instructions in the pattern for a lap, double, and queen size quilt.
BINDINGS (3 hours)
Learn how to put a beautifully machine stitched binding on your quilt. Kay will demo how to use “Shortcut Binding Tool” to make a flange and binding in one unit with no hand stitching. A great way to get those quilts done fast and easy.
MACHINE QUILTING WORKSHOPS
A MACHINE QUILTING PRIMER (3 hours)
Learn how to free motion quilt on your home machine. Hands on exercises give you guidance and confidence in the free motion technique.
LET’S DOODLE (3 hours)
This is a follow up class to Machine Quilting Primer. Learn how to draw leaves, flowers, stars and other designs on your home machine. This class may be combined with the Machine Quilting Primer to make a 6 hr class.
ZENTANGLE QUILTING (3 hours)
Learn to create quilting stitches into amazing patterns. It is an artform with no rules. You can not make a mistake! We will also be coloring in the class too. I promise you will relax and enjoy this class!
